God, Adam & Eve and the Human Genome Project

Many ethical and policy issues are being raised by advances in genetic research and clinical testing. God, Adam & Eve and the Human Genome Project features lessons that range from basic genetics and information about the Human Genome Project to ethical explorations of genetic testing and disease to the questions being raised in the areas of race, gender, and genetics. Each lesson is coupled with exercises designed to make you think about your current opinions about some ethical issues tied to current research. Unit One is complete and was developed by Chicago Theological Seminary and University of Chicago Students in the Fall of 2001. Units Two and Three will be developed during "Race, Gender, and Genetics," a Fall 2003 course offered through a joint project of Chicago Theological Seminary and the University of Chicago, and funded by the Templeton Foundation. Units Four and Five will be developed following a conference on Race, Gender, and Genetics in the Spring of 2004.
