The M.A. in Religious Studies (M.A. I) is a two-year degree program that builds the foundations of study across the range of theological disciplines. It is appropriate as a first theological degree for those:
who seek academic preparation for further study at the doctoral level;
who are active church members and desire seminary training, but intend to work in lay ministry;
who are trained and working in secular vocations, but wish to add the perspective of advanced theological study to their work and
who do not seek to enter ministry, but wish to study in a pluralistic and ecumenical setting.
The M.A. in Religious Studies II is a degree program for those already possessing a primary theological degree. It allows the student to design a course of study to pursue special areas of interest, including further preparation for doctoral work.
What kinds of topics do our masters students engage? Here are some recent thesis titles: The Praxis of Liberation in Bishop Romeros Ministry, The Ebb and Flow of the Moral Concept in Judaism, andThe Theology of the Cross: The Liberative Power in the Oppressed World.
