Master of Divinity and Master of Arts at Chicago Theological Seminary
Criteria for Admission
Applicants to a master’s degree program at Chicago Theological
Seminary must have completed a bachelor’s degree or its
equivalent with a strong record from an accredited college or
university. M.A. applicants may also have earned a first
theological degree. Applicants should show promise in a
vocation for which theological study provides appropriate
preparation.
The M.Div. and M.A. applications require:
- Official transcripts;
- Four letters of reference, two of which should be academic;
- An autobiographical statement.
- M.A. applicants who have earned a previous master’s degree
in theology must also submit a statement of proposed focus
of study..
G.R.E. Scores from the Graduate Record Exam (G.R.E.) are
recommended for applicants whose undergraduate academic
records may not adequately represent their ability to do graduate
work. The GRE code for CTS is 1120.
International Applicants
International Applicants: all non-native English speakers who are applying
to any degree program must submit a
Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
score of no lower than 550 paper or 217
computer. The TOEFL code for CTS is 1120.
