A Lenten Lectionary Workshop: Friday, January 18, 2013

On Friday, January 18 CTS gathered on-campus for our Lenten Lectionary Workshop with Dr. Lee Butler who led us in our overview of the Year C scripture texts. The day “kicked-off” with a simple breakfast and a time of worship. Professor Butler led two sessions of study – morning and afternoon. We ended the day with a short time of reflection.

What is the Lectionary Workshop?
Twice a year, in advance of Lent and Advent, clergy and other contemplative people of faith gather for a day of study, reflection and fellowship, examining the New Common Lectionary passages for the upcoming liturgical season with a professor from Chicago Theological Seminary.
This is a resource for pastors preparing to preach sermons on the texts, as well as laypeople looking for a day to grow in their knowledge of scriptures which are central to the liturgical lives of many congregations. It's a day full of stimulating lecture content and provocative conversation.
