DEPTH (Discover, Explore, Partner
where Transformation Happens) offers
high school young people and their adult
partners opportunities to explore their
faith, religious identity and sense of
purpose or call in small supportive groups
that nourish and challenge their understanding
of God’s claims on their lives.
There are three major emphases in DEPTH programming:
The DEPTH Youth Peace Project offers opportunities for CTS students to partner with high school age Youth Student Interns recruited from the Humboldt Park neighborhood. Participants meet three Saturdays a month over eight months for study and service. The year culminates in a major project designed in partnership with other community organizations to benefit the neighborhood of Humboldt Park.
The Transforming Leaders Project is designed to support youth workers in congregations who wish to enhance their understanding of youth development and to build skills to engage young people in theological inquiry and vocation formation. Through a series of six day-long retreats youth workers devote themselves to study, service and peer learning.
DEPTH contributes Academic Courses to the CTS curriculum on various aspects of ministry with young people. The courses are offered to CTS students and partner seminaries as well as to lay practitioners and clergy for credit, audit or for continuing education units.
DEPTH is funded in part by a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment. |
