Faculty NewsReturning FacultyThis semester we are happy to welcome back four full-time faculty members who have been on sabbatical. Each of these faculty colleagues will be speaking in a public Convocation service this year. Dr. Seung Ai Yang, Associate Professor of New Testament, has returned from a year-long research sabbatical in 2009-10. Prof. Yang's extended sabbatical was funded in part by a Lilly Theological Research Faculty Fellowship Grant. During her sabbatical, Dr. Yang conducted research and writing towards her grant project, titled, “Crossing boundaries, building community: Matthean discipleship discourse as a map for 21st century American church and society.” Dr. Yang also wrote for an upcoming book manuscript. Dr. Julia M. Speller, Associate Professor of American Religious History & Culture, returned from sabbatical as of the start of the fall term, 2010. Dr. Laurel C. Schneider, Professor of Theology, Ethics, & Culture, returned from sabbatical as of the start of the fall term, 2010. Dr. Timothy Sandoval, Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible, returned from sabbatical as of the start of the fall term, 2010. Besides completing and shepherding to publication several projects begun prior to his Spring 2010 sabbatical, Professor Sandoval completed an annotated bibliography on the book of Ecclesiastes (Qohelet) for Oxford Bibliographies on line and contributed an essay to a forthcoming volume on Latino Biblical Hermeneutics. Sabbatical AnnouncementsDr. Scott Haldeman, Associate Professor of Worship is on sabbatical starting as of September 2010 and will return for the start of the winter term, 2011. Dr. JoAnne Terrell, Associate Professor of Ethics and Theology is on sabbatical starting as of September 2010 and will return for the start of the winter term, 2011. |
