Seminary Sunday

On February 26, 2012, and some other upcoming Sundays, many of our UCC church partners will celebrate Seminary Sunday by inviting students and faculty to participate in worship.

While by no means a complete list, we want to recognize some of the wonderful opportunities for friendship, partnership and celebration created by this day. • CTS students Damien Lake and Lisa Seiwert will speak to Park Congregational Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
• CTS ministry student, Ms. Bianca Davis, will join The Rev. Peggy McClanahan in a dialogue sermon at Pilgrim Faith UCC in Oak Lawn.
• Professor Scott Haldeman will preach during the Worship at Edgebrook Community UCC, pastored by the Rev. Greg Sabetta, M.Div 2005, and will be joined by CTS student Ms. Susan Soric.
• President Alice Hunt will preach at Worship and lead Sunday School at FCC Winter Park, FL, with Senior Pastor and CTS Life Trustee The Rev. Bryan G. Fulwider.
• Professor Lee Butler will preach at worship at Glenview Community Church, with Interim Pastor, The Rev. Dr. Douglas Busby (M.Div. ’97).
• CTS student Ms. Esther Baruja will join The Rev. Luis Alvarenga and his bilingual (Spanish/English) congregation at Iglesia Unido Berwyn UCC.
• CTS students Ms. Harlette Washington, Mr. Kirk Laubenstein, Mr. Nicolas Cable, and Mr. Don Thomas will each have roles in the liturgy and worship leadership with the Rev. Michelle Hughes (M.Div. ’95) at Congregational Church of Park Manor.
• In late April (date TBD), CTS student Ms. Deneen Collins will join The Rev. Yvette Eber at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
• On February 19, President Alice Hunt preached at Pilgrim Congregational Church of Oak Park, with Senior Pastor the Rev. Sally Iberg (M.Div. ’98)
• On March 18, President Alice Hunt will preach at St. Paul’s UCC in Chicago with Associate Pastors, the Rev. Avena Ward (M.Div. ’00) and the Rev. Jeffrey Carlson (M.Div. ’02)
• The Rev. Bob Saunders will lift up CTS at Woodside Congregational Church in Rockford, Illinois.
• The Rev. Kerri Parker will lift up CTS at McFarland UCC in McFarland, Wisconsin.
• CTS ministry student, Ms. Andria Davis, will preach at Bethany United Church of Christ with The Rev. Bill Bordonaro
• The Rev. John Thomas will preach at Epiphany United Church of Christ in Chicago (date TBD)
