  • Organization Description: The Common Ground Project at McCormick Seminary is a Lilly-funded, ecumenical initiative that seeks to support leaders of color in the church. Various programs held by the project include Taste of Seminary, Young Adult conference-retreats, the Pastors' Networking Group and the Next Generation Consultation.
  • Job Requirements: This position requires a high level of administrative skill, which includes:
    • Organizing travel and transportation matrices of for events, communicating regularly with traveling participants to keep them abreast of plans and be aware of their plans
    • Organizing and planning meals for all events, including planning meetings
    • Assessing additional short-term staffing needs
    • Organizing, directing and managing short-term staff
    • Maintaining a database of participant information on mailchimp e-marketing tool
    • Shopping, as needed
    • Photocopying, scanning organizing, mailing and emailing various materials events
    • Processing expenses and billing
    • Working with the director to maintain communication with previous and present participants
    • Other responsibilities, as needed

    Other aspects of the work include:
    • Working 12+ hour days and being “on-call” for several days in a row during events
    • An ability to work with and direct others in high-stress situations
    • An ability to meet with the director in person several times a week
    • Bringing to bear ideas to and process events with the director
    • Working on E-marketing campaigns
    • Interpreting the Common Ground Project to groups under the guidance and supervision of the Director of the Project
