A Lenten Lectionary Workshop: Thursday, January 26, 2012
Save the Date!
CTS will host a Lenten Lectionary Workshop on Thursday, January 26, 2012.
This year's Lenten Lectionary Workshop is titled, "Covenant and Promises: Exploring the Scriptures of the Lenten Season" and features Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible and Interim Academic Dean, Timothy Sandoval. The themes of covenant and promises echo throughout the lectionary scriptures for this Lenten Season. How do we begin to understand the promises and agreements between God and God's people, in ancient Israel and in the earliest church? In preparation for Easter, let us explore what covenant has meant for our ancestors in faith. In this exploration, we, as people of faith, can begin to discover (or re-discover) the significance of "promise" and covenant in our own lives and communities.
What is the Lectionary Workshop?

Twice a year, in advance of Lent and Advent, clergy and other contemplative people of faith gather for a day of study, reflection and fellowship, examining the New Common Lectionary passages for the upcoming liturgical season with a professor from Chicago Theological Seminary.
This is a resource for pastors preparing to preach sermons on the texts, as well as laypeople looking for a day to grow in their knowledge of scriptures which are central to the liturgical lives of many congregations. It's a day full of stimulating lecture content and provocative conversation.
We hope you will join us this year for the first ever Lectionary Workshop in our brand new, state-of-the-art building at 1407 East 60th Street!
Registration is $50.00 (or $10.00 for current CTS students). If you have any questions about the Lectionary Workshop or Registration, please contact Nell Stigler at
