The Seminary Co-op Bookstore

Known throughout the world as one of the finest academic bookstores, The Seminary Co-op Bookstore is located in the basement of the main seminary building. With over 100,000 titles in stock among its labyrinth of shelves, the bookstore is not only a place to purchase course texts but also a place to wander and find new conversation partners–both in the flesh and in print–to stimulate your thinking. The Co-op offers all of its customers the opportunity to purchase stock in the enterprise. For a minimal charge, members receive a 10% discount on all purchases. Jack Cella, the bookstore founder and a CTS alumnus, can still be found at the information desk to guide you to the books you need. In addition to its basement warren, the Co-op has two branches: 57th Street Books, a general retail store just two blocks from the seminary that has a wonderful children’s collection, and the Newberry Library bookstore just north of the loop in downtown Chicago.
