Ours is a Welcoming Congregation celebrating the presence and participation of multiple diversities, including people of all sexual orientations, many different family structures, and gender expressions.

Since our congregation is in a period of transition, we are looking at hiring a full time/part time Religious Education Professional who will be flexible and willing to work with us over the next two years and possibly beyond. We would like someone who has a working knowledge of Unitarian Universalism or is willing to learn.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership for Religious Exploration and Education across the lifespan as a critical component of the church’s mission
Understand UUA and complementary Lifespan Faith Development Curricula
Work with teams to update and develop policies and procedures
Willing to work on Sundays and some evenings and weekends in addition to weekday office hours
For a part-time employee, only some of the following components will be relevant
Reports to and collaborates with Parish Minister

PROGRAMMING
• Youth Religious Exploration (YRE)
Manage an existing, well-organized program and help us continue to evolve
Offer frontline pastoral care to children, youth, and families on a limited basis in collaboration with the Parish Minister, and make referrals as necessary
Work with YRE Team to recruit YRE teachers
Support teachers and other volunteers through teacher training sessions, one-to-one support sessions, and informal assistance
On some Sundays and by appointment during the week, be available to talk with visitors and provide support to parents
Provide support for Youth Conferences

• Adult Religious Education (ARE )
Advance the work of empowering the congregation to “own” ARE programming
Help ARE Team discern highest priority needs among membership for course topics
Provide knowledge of UUA ARE curricula and demonstrate expertise in moderating and facilitating when highly charged topics are broached
Be willing and available to teach one or more ARE classes, courses or workshops each year in addition to supporting the volunteers who teach our other offerings.

• Small Group Ministry (SGM)
Support facilitators with workshops, meetings, and providing one-on-one coaching
Assist SGM Team with developing new opportunities for small group ministry, whether this be new groups or new ways of delivering this ministry

ADMINISTRATION
Manage Religious Education budget, expenses, enrollment, attendance, and additional program files
Apprise Minister, RE Teams and Board as requested
Communicate regularly with RE program leaders, and serve as RE spokesperson to the congregation and wider community as delegated
Provide content to the newsletter, E-Blast, and other means of communication for internal and external publicity
Consult as needed with the Leadership Council in regard to the Lifespan Faith Development goals of the Strategic Plan
Post and maintain regular office hours and be flexible for other scheduling as needed
Assume responsibility for compliance with UUA guidelines related to health and safety

WORSHIP
Oversee multigenerational segment of Sunday worship service (“Time for All Ages) in collaboration with Parish Minister and Worship Team
Plan and oversee implementation of special multigenerational worship services (e.g., Coming of Age, RE Sunday, Senior Sunday) in conjunction with Parish Minister and Worship Team.

Must be willing to work on Sundays and some evenings and weekends in addition to weekday office hours.

Compensation to be offered is consistent with UUA Principles of Fair Compensation.
